Checkout process


At Booking.com I created the checkout process for the tablet website as part of the design for the dedicated website for tablets.
The main challenge was creating a design based on the data we had about the users and breaking the design down to beneficial incremental changes for an audience that was used to seeing the desktop version of the site.
Another challenge was making sure that the information of the booking process would show properly in 42 languages on a much smaller screen. To that end we created a script that would let us test the design locally with the longest version of a tag from all the translations.

As I stepped into the project, we realized that the design previously made for the tablet version was dissimilar from the Google analytics data that showed most users being in landscape mode. Through more data analysis and user testing, I redesigned the checkout process for the landscape view.
After the design was done, I broke down the main changes into a few sets of A/B tests, analysed the data again and iterated after each run.
